STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe...

The Scriptures
The Bible, the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in its original manuscripts, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men and the Divine and sole authority for Christian faith, and life (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21).

The Godhead
In one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons-- Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:16,17; 29:19; Luke 3:21--22; Genesis 1:1).

Jesus Christ
That Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He is now our High Priest and Advocate . Justification before God is an act of God by which He declares righteous those who, through faith in Christ, repent of their sins and confess Him as sovereign Lord. Righteousness is apart from any virtue or work of man and involves the placing of our sins on Christ and the imputation Christ’s righteousness to us. This means God is enabled to “be just, and is the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus”. (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-25; Romans 3:20-24; 1 Peter 1:81-19; 2:24; Hebrews 4:14-16; Romans 2:4; 3:26; 10:9-10; 2 Corinthians 5:21)

Holy Spirit
That the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age to convict men, regenerate the sinner, to indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for godly living and service (John 3:3; 16:7-11; Titus 3:5).

Mankind
That man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained (Romans 3:10-23, 6:23, 7:18, 11:23; Galatians 3:22; Ephesians 2:1-3; Titus 3:2-7)

Salvation
That the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God (Romans 3:20-24, 8:6-17; 10:9-10; John 1:12).

Resurrection
In the bodily resurrection of the dead; the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, the non-believer to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment (Matthew 25:44-46; John 5:28-29; Revelation 20:15).

Sufficiency of Scripture
Affirming that General Revelation (truth revealed through creation) does not, and was not intended, to provide the data necessary for “life and godliness,” and that God has chosen to reveal those truths that must be believed and practices in order to please Him only through Special Revelation (now recorded in the Scriptures), the Christian counselor builds his system of counseling, including its presuppositions, principles, and methodologies, solely from the data of Special Revelation, and in counseling practice, demonstrates that Scriptural truth, ministered in the power of the Holy Spirit, is sufficient to enable counselees to love God and their neighbors.
