Certification
BCEC certifies through two organizations the International Association of Biblical Counselors or/ National Association of Nouthetic Counselors.
International Association of Biblical Counselors (IABC)

The International Association of Biblical Counselors (IABC) is open to pastors, elders, counselors and lay people across the world who want to help fellow believers deal with their problems by understanding and applying God's Word. You do not have to be a "professional" counselor to join IABC, but you must have an unswerving commitment to the sufficiency of Scriptures as the essential means for the healing of the inner man.

Membership is open to qualified individuals and organizations who have rejected psychotherapy and have embraced the all-sufficient Word of God as the source of mental and spiritual wholeness. All those seeking membership or certification must be in complete agreement with our doctrinal statement to join IABC

If you are interested in becoming a part of the International Association of Biblical Counselors, we encourage you to contact our office at (303) 469-IABC (469-4222) or check out our website at www.iabc.net. You can also e-mail us at information@iabc.net.
You do not have to be a certified counselor to become a member of IABC nor are you required to be actively involved in a counseling ministry, but you can be included in the activities, conferences and benefits of IABC by becoming a member. Your membership can help IABC reach out to others with the message of Biblical sufficiency.

Why not join us right now in this important battle for truth?

National Association of Nouthetic Counselors.
The National Association of Nouthetic Counselors is a fellowship of Christian pastors and laymen who have banded together to promote excellence in biblical counseling. NANC was founded in 1975 in service to Christ to address several needs in the biblical counseling community.
NANC exists to help pastors and those who would be ministers of the Word of God by providing help and encouragement. NANC is first and foremost a certifying organization. The certifying process is rigorous but attainable by even the busiest pastor. The process consists of the completion of an approved training course, the completion of both a theological and a practical counseling test, several references, and a minimum of 50 hours of supervised counseling experience. The first step in the process is to write the NANC office and request a membership packet.
Why should YOU consider NANC certification?
The rigors of NANC Certification help you to:
  • “Present yourselves approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).
  • Increase your effectiveness in ministering God’s Word to hurting people.
  • Grow spiritually by doing some reading, studying, and thinking that probably would not get done without some structure.
  • Identify with others who are committed to the sufficiency of Christ and His Word in solving life's non-organic problems.
  • Be part of a national referral network of biblical counselors.
The Three Phases of NANC Certification
The NANC certification process can be confusing if you do not have a good understanding of what is required. This document is designed to help you gain that understanding. All of the documents mentioned below can be found on our website in the Application Packet. Keep this on hand as you work through the process to help ensure you meet the requirements.
Phase 1 – Training and Observation
Phase 2 – Exams and Application
Phase 3 – Supervision Counseling
